Barangay III is also known as “Calubian,” a name that is derived from a plant called “Calubi.” Its leaves look like an “Anahaw,” look like and grow to be as tall as the “Buli” tree. Calubi is now extinct in the Barangay and even in the whole of Tangub. But, in old times, the calubi plant was abundant in this area that is why the people called the place Calubian, the place of where calubi trees abound.
Through PD 86 which was approved in October 1974, the name Barangay III was approved. However, long time residents of the barangay who were used to call the name “Calubihan” continued to do so until such time that they became used to the new name Barangay III.
