Brief history of Barangay Bongabong
Before the year 1961 "Bong-bong" tree was a very famous and abundant in this place. The barangay folks used this tree to produce crafts like baskets, winnower ("nigo") and others and sold them in the market. This was the way of living for most of the residents in this barangay. In 1961 a Republic Act 2330 was approved naming this barangay as Barangay Bongabong which was derived from its famous tree "Bong-bong".
Bongabong is divided in two sittios namely; Bongabong Daku (big) and Bongabong Diot (small). The two tenyente del barrios were surnamed Yway and Saladaga.
The barangay folks are mostly farmers, the area being suited to agriculture. In 1961 barangay Bongabong started to improve and grow. The roads were being repaired, schools were constructed, barangay halls, houses and others.
