National Tuberculosis Program


The National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) is one of the flagship programs of the Department of Health managed by the City Health Office. It aims to identify and treat patients with Tuberculosis (TB). Laboratory examination on sputum and also medicines are free of charge.

  1. Valid ID (Original) from LGU, LTO, Post Office
  2. Philhealth ID (Original) (if applicable) from the Philhealth Office
  3. Chest Xray result (Original) from a Government or Private Hospital
  4. Barangay Certification (Original) from the Barangay Office 
Steps Service Details
1 Client Steps:  Go to the employee incharge for NTP service
Agency Action:  Get the data from the patient , fill out patient‘s ITR​​​​​​​

1.1 Client Steps:  Provide data required for filling out the Individual Treatment Record (ITR)​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Agency Action:  Get ITR from file (for those who availed) of other health services in the past​​​​​​​
1.2 Client Steps:  Have vital signs taken​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Agency Action:  Get patients‘ vital signs​​​​​​​
2 Client Steps:  Go to the doctor‘s room together with the employee in charge.​​​​​​​
Agency Action:  Accompany the patient with his/her ITR to the doctor ​​​​​​​

3 Client Steps:  Consult the doctor about your physical condition​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Agency Action:  Perform consultation services; 3.1 Give recommendation for laboratory examination​​​​​​​

4 Client Steps:  Proceed to the Laboratory room ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Agency Action:  Receive doctor‘s request for sputum exam.​​​​​​​

Processing Time:  5 Minutes 
Person Responsible:  Medical Technologist from the City Health Office
4.1 Client Steps:  Present the doctor‘s request for Sputum exam​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Agency Action:  Provide patient the sputum cup for his specimen​​​​​​​
4.2 Client Steps:  Get the sputum cup and listen to the instruction on how to take the phlegm used as specimen.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Agency Action:  Instruct patient on how to take the phlegm to be examined.​​​​​​​
5 Client Steps:  Wait while: the sputum examination is taken​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Agency Action:  Perform sputum examination ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

6 Client Steps:  Return to the Laboratory Room​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

6.1 Client Steps:  Get the laboratory result.
7 Client Steps:  If the laboratory result is positive:​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Agency Action:  Receive and record the laboratory result in the logbook.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Processing Time:  1 Minute​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

7.1 Client Steps:  Approach the dispensing nurse and give the laboratory result.​​​​​​​
Agency Action:  Dispense the prescribed medicines and give instruction on the length and time they will be taken.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Processing Time:  5 Minutes

7.2 Client Steps:  Get the prescribed medicines and the instructions on how long they will be taken​​​​​​​
8 Client Steps:  If the result is negative, go with the EIC to the doctor together with the ITR and laboratory result,​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Agency Action:  Accompany the patient to the doctor.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
