Brief history of Barangay Lorenzo Tan

   The Subanen were the first setters of the place. They only depend on hunting wild animals for food especially during festival. As they roamed roamed around, a small hill was found to be the hiding place of “baboy ihalas” or wild pig. So the name “Pontod” was the first old identity of the place. Pontod was a sitio of barangay Pangabuan. It was named “pontod” because the early setters of the barangay were just wearing a “g-string “or “Baliag” and that was Pontod was derived or a synonym to a plateau or “Tagabukid”.

    During the time of the late Mayor Alfonso D. Tan, people demanded to become a barangay that made the place independent from Panguaban. Since the sitio met the needed requirement population wise, Pontod became regular barangay.  Through R.A. 3590, the place is needed is named Lorenzo Tan, through the efforts of the late Mayor until the presents time.
