Barangay Migcanaway
Brief history of Barangay Migcanaway
In the 1930,Tangub was born as a town. Long before when it was just a town, there was a beautiful site on the morthern part of the land Migcanaway covered with plenty of mangrove forest which lies along Migcanaway River bordering the eastern portion of the land.
When Alfonso D. Tan became the mayor of Tangub,he declared the site as a Barangay and called it Barangay Migcanaway in 1984. Pursuant to Republic Act 2370 he appointed Margarito Calatrava as the First Barangay Captain Victoria A. Galariana-1st kagawad,Arjano Perez 2nd kagawad,Domingo Solijon,3rd kagawad, Mar Natividad 4th kagawad,Roque Bermudo 5th kagawad,Joseph Villejo 6th kagawad and Trinidad Maaba 7th kagawad. Some of the family names of the barangay councilors were chosen as the name of the seven puroks that devided Barangay Migcanaway.
Barangay Migcanaway is bounded on the North by Barangay Maloro;on the South by Barangay Mantic;on the West is Centro of Tangub City and on the East is Panguil Bay. It has a total land area of 14.0029 hectares of which 7.0224 hectares are residential,1.1911 hectares are coco land and the rest cultivated for fishpond.Fishing is the main source of livelihood.Migcanaway is known for the abundance of Shrimps and Crabs which are exported and transported from here to neighboring places. Migcanaway is a coastal barangay rich in mangrove trees.
